Confronting Xenophobia and Supporting Our Asian Community

Following the spread of COVID-19 in the United States we witnessed a significant increase in xenophobia and racism against Asian and Asian Americans, which extended to staff at the hospital. One such example from our institution is highlighted in Forbes.

In response, the Radiology Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, with the support of the Center for Diversity and Inclusion and the Office for Equity and Inclusion, hosted a virtual panel entitled “Confronting Xenophobia and Supporting Our Asian Community During COVID-19.” The event provided a historical, national and local perspective on xenophobia in the context of COVID-19 and provided a recommendation on how to advance an environment of dignity and respect within Boston and beyond. This event included over 340 virtual participants.
